2019 CCB Rules Hospitals and organizations may submit more than one team (up to 2; additional will be added to a waitlist) but individual team members can only be on one of the teams. Teams may be comprised of up to five persons plus an alternate. Team members are clinical nurses. If an advanced practice nurse wishes to participate, their primary role must be as a bedside nurse. The tournament is single elimination. Points will be deducted for incorrect answers. Two team names will be drawn from a hat to determine who will compete for each round. A quarter toss will determine which team selects the first category and point value question for each round. Note: All first round (initial) games will be allowed 30 seconds to answer and all subsequent rounds (for teams who advance to the next round) the answer time is decreased to 20 seconds. Each team may buzz in when the question is being read and then has seconds to answer the question. The question will stop being read as soon as the buzzer sounds. In the event that neither team buzzes in, seconds will expire and the answer will be revealed before moving to the next category and question. Team members may confer after buzzing in but must begin their answer before seconds has expired. Any team member may answer the question. If a team answers incorrectly, the opposing team will have seconds to answer the question or pass after hearing the entire read aloud question. The team with the last (most recent) correct answer chooses the next category and point value question. The judge panel has the final say on all answers and no challenge is allowed. Both teams will participate in the final bonus question as long as they have a positive point balance. In the event a team has a negative point balance, they are ineligible to participate in the bonus and the opposing team advances to the next round. The bonus round will take place after 8 minutes into the first round and after 7 minutes into all subsequent rounds. Each team will be given the category for the bonus question and will then have 10 seconds to wager points up to the total they have accumulated. Teams will have seconds to answer the bonus question and the team with the most points at the end will advance to the next round or be declared the winner of the competition. Any item(s) is subject to change at the CIC – AACN board’s discretion.
