5 Use: Use Example 4-The present simple looks back from the present into the past , and express what happened before now. The action happened at an indefinite time in the past. The action can continue to the present and probably into the future. She has won awards. (in her life). I’ve met a lot of famous people. (before now). She’s written twenty books. (up to now).

6 Present Simple & Past Perfect :
1-The action happened at an definite time in the past. e.g. -I met a lot of famous people yesterday. 2-The action happened and is finished in the past. -She lived in Paris for a year (but not now). 1-The action happened at an indefinite time in the past. I’ve met a lot of famous people. (before now). 2-The action happened in the past and can continue to the present. She’s lived in Paris for a twenty years (and she still does).

7 Present Simple & Past Perfect :
3-Time expression: e.g. -I did it in 1999. last week. two months ago. on March 22. for two years. -I’ve worked here since 1999. since I left school. for 22 years. - I’ve never been to Canada.

8 Compare these sentences
Past simple Present perfect - I had never been to Canada. I broke my leg last year. -When did you go to Canada? I’ve never been to Canada. - I’ve broken my leg last year. - When have you been to Canada? Present Simple How long do you have your car? He works as a teacher all his life. - How long have you had your car? He has worked as a teacher all his life.
