1 Point of View Comparisons

2 Character’s Point of View or Perspective chart
Experiences Attitude Values Beliefs

3 Here is an example of Point of View
The Big Bad Wolf’s Perspective on being hunted by the Woodsman Experiences values He is hunted by the woodsman. He knows he is in constant danger from the woodsman. He values a good meal. He values being smart and cunning to get what he wants. Attitudes Beliefs He is very sure almost cocky, that he can elude or escape the woodsman. He believes it is alright for wolves to eat little girls. It is ok to lie to get your meals.

4 Let’s take a look at the characters from The Three Little Pigs.

5 Perspectives of the three little pigs
We think the Big Bad Wolf is very wrong for blowing down our houses. We understand he wants to eat us, but we worked very hard building our houses. If it wasn’t for our brother, the Third Little Pig, we definitely would be bacon by now. We think the Big Bad Wolf got what he deserved. He trespassed on our property so we had to defend ourselves. We hope his burnt tail has taught him a lesson. He should become a vegetarian like us!

6 Perspectives of the Big Bad Wolf
I really hadn’t eaten for at least a week! When I saw those three juicy little pigs all I could thing about was bacon, pork chops, and ham dinner! As you know, I am a carnivore. My instincts just take over and I can’t control myself. The only way to get what I wanted was to use my enormous lung capacity and blow those houses down. Brick however, is my kryptonite! I can’t say I enjoy having a burnt tail, but I can say that I’m still hungry! Watch out piggies!

7 what beliefs, values, attitudes, and experiences do the Three Little Pigs have?
We are afraid of wolves since they are carnivores. We believe in family, that’s why we stick together. We’ve heard about the Big Bad Wolf from other fairy tale characters...so we knew he was bad news. We value hard work that’s why we each built our own house.

8 What beliefs, values, attitude, and experiences does the Big Bad Wolf have?
As a wolf, I have to be very clever and crafty to get what I want. I’m a loner. I can get along just fine by myself. Since I am a carnivore, I have to follow my instincts. I don’t understand why prey just doesn’t cooperate with me? Why do they make it so hard for me!

9 What’s your point of view?
Think about the story of The Three Little Pigs. You’ve heard the view of the Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf. How do you see the problem between the characters? How does your point of view compare to the characters? Is your point of view more similar or dissimilar to the characters?

10 characters from Little Red Riding Hood

11 Perspectives of Little Red Riding Hood
My poor grandmother! I was very happy to take a basket of goodies to her. My mother said not to talk to strangers. So I don’t thing it was my fault that the Big Bad Wolf started talking to me. After all, my mother also taught me manners and to respect my elders (even though he is a wolf). I think it was very unkind of him to gobble up grandma and myself. I didn’t feel bad or guilty when the woodsman got us out of the wolf’s stomach by opening him up. I think he deserved it for being so devious.

12 Perspectives of the Big Bad Wolf
I gave up blowing down houses. Too much drama with those pigs! But I was still hungry. So I decided to use my cleverness to trick this little girl who was walking through my part of the forest. She was easily tricked. The grandmother put up a fight, but I swallowed her whole. I almost felt bad tricking that little girl again. Almost. In the end, they were both delicious. Now, that woodsman was very rude to me. He didn’t even give me a chance to explain and he chopped me open. It took 100 stitches to close me up. I should send him the bill!

13 what beliefs, values, attitudes, and experiences does Little Red Riding Hood have?
I can’t believe I was so easily tricked! Am I that gullible? I always do what my mother tells me to do. At least I try to. I can see why the Three Little Pigs warned me about the wolf. I know now to stay away from strangers and wolves. My grandmother is very important to me. I want her to get well soon.

14 I’m a loner. I can get along just fine by myself.
What beliefs, values, attitude, and experiences does the Big Bad Wolf have? As a wolf, I am at the top of the food chain…except for those pesky humans. I’m a loner. I can get along just fine by myself. My instincts always tell me what to do. But I guess my instincts about that little girl were wrong. Pigs and Little Girls. I now know to stay away from them. I wonder how a princess or dwarf would taste?
