Mission and Purpose of Heritage Christian Academy It is the purpose of Heritage Christian Academy to train students in truth and righteousness leading the students toward Christ-likeness, to uphold the Christian family, and support the local Bible- believing Church. We accomplish this purpose by honoring the Lord Jesus Christ; by believing and applying Gods Word; by employing a qualified, and Godly staff; by using Godly materials and methods of teaching; by attempting to involve parents and local pastors in the educational process; and by recognizing that students are a unique creation of God.

Christian Approach to Education

Introduction Since the time of the Garden of Eden, mans desire has been to be wise and he has striven to know all truth. In searching for the truth, each man develops a system of values and beliefs that guide his every action.

Introduction The Christian must develop his way of living by studying Gods truth – the Bible. Paul defines the Christian way of living as one that follows after Christ and not after the world because Colossians 2:3 tells us that in Christ are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. The Christians way of living must be based on the Lord Jesus Christ as He is revealed in Scripture.

The Purpose of Christian Education God makes it plain that His goal for all Christians is that they be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works (II Timothy 3:7). Spiritually Mature Ephesians 4:12-13 describe the goal of Christian Education: for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

The Purpose of Christian Education To Create in Every Young Person the Likeness of Christ The goal of Christian education is to develop Christians whose way of living in this life anticipate their eventual conformity to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29) For whom He did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

The Responsibility of Christian Education Christian education should take place first and foremost in the Christian home (Deuteronomy 6:7; Ephesians 6:4). Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them (v. 6) diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Ephesians 6:4 And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

The Responsibility of Christian Education These commands are directed to Christian parents, who bear the ultimate responsibility for the success or failure of their childrens education.

The Responsibility of Christian Education Another institution with God- given responsibilities for education is the church. (Matthew 28:19-20) Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

The Responsibility of Christian Education In our generation, the Christian school has been established as an arm of the home and church. The Christian school is to reinforce the Biblical teaching of the home and church.

The Responsibility of Christian Education The Christian school, in no way, relieves parents of their ultimate responsibility for the education of their children. However, the Christian schools goal should be the goal of the Christian parents: pointing the student towards Christ- likeness.

Why Have a Christian School? Public schools are secular. Their goal is to make students conform to the norms of society (political correctness). This goal is in complete contradiction to Gods goal. Romans 12:2 Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Why Have a Christian School? As the goals of secular schools have become increasingly contrary (hostile) to the goals of Christian education, Christian schools allow parents an environment where they can gain help in conforming their children to the image of Christ.

Why Have a Christian School? The Christian school has been established to allow parents to obey Gods command to give their children a Christian education, and at the same time obey the laws of the land.

What is the Difference Between Christian Education and a Christian School? Christian Education: The process of conforming the student to Christ-likeness – Spiritual Maturity Christian School: A place designed to give students a large part of their Christian education.

What is the Difference Between Christian Education and a Christian School? Christian Education: Begins at salvation and continues until death. Christian School: Begins at Kindergarten and stops at the twelfth grade. Many schools that are called Christian do not seek to produce students conformed to the image of Christ.

Who is to Receive a Christian Education? A Christian education is for Christians. A Christian education begins with spiritual rebirth.

Who is to Receive a Christian Education? The unsaved cannot be conformed to the image of Christ because the natural (unconverted) man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned (cut off). Unconverted man cannot understand the things of God

Who is to Receive a Christian Education? The Christian school is designed to help Christian parents train young people for the Lord.

What is the Goal of Heritage Christian Academy? To partner with Christian families to assist in the training of their children to love, serve, and be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ: and at the same time offer a superior education.

Education cannot be given. It must be seized.

Vision for Heritage Christian Academy

HCA should… Offer the best program academically that we are capable of offering as a small school. The foundation of this goal is a Biblically sound curriculum in the hands of teachers who have experienced salvation in Christ and are maintaining a proper walk and fellowship with Him.

HCA should… Develop and maintain the reputation of being a premier Christian Academy where children from solid Christian homes can attend with great confidence that their relationship with Christ will be nurtured by the faculty, the academic program, and the student-body.

HCA should… Operate from a sound financial base that demonstrates good wisdom in managing the financial affairs of the academy. This involves the church family of Heritage Baptist Church and also the families of Heritage Christian Academy.

HCA should… Develop and maintain a fine arts program that will appeal to students with interest in this area and will allow us to be competitive with other schools our size.

HCA should… Be able to provide the facilities that will allow us to offer a well- rounded athletic program.
