5 Site - How are we improving the living environment:
CTGBC 2019 Green Building Awards CATEGORY NOTES FOR SUBMISSION Site - How are we improving the living environment: This category highlights projects with a focus on the land, that may include sites that are part of a building project, without a direct examination of the building itself. Submissions are encouraged to examine how elements of a project may contribute to our communities’ strategies for living in a more sustainable future. Work may include community engagement, natural landscapes, stormwater strategies and/or alternative transportation.

6 CATEGORY NOTES FOR SUBMISSION
CTGBC 2019 Green Building Awards CATEGORY NOTES FOR SUBMISSION Passive House Projects: To be considered for the CT Passive House Design Award a project must meet most if not all of the following metrics: PHI Path: Heating Energy Demand: ≤ kBtu/(ft².yr) OR Building Heating Load: ≤ 3.17 Btu/hr.ft² Cooling Demand: ≤4.75kBtu/(ft².yr) Primary Energy Demand: ≤38 kBtu/(ft².yr) Building Airtightness: ≤0.6 ACH @ 50Pa Ventilation with ≥ 75% heat recovery PHIUS Path: Heating and cooling energy demand and loads: thresholds based on project location Primary Energy Demand: 6200 kWh/person/year Building Airtightness: 0.05 – 0.08 CFM/ft² - air tightness threshold based on building size and construction type (continued)
