Podcasting lectures allows students to time shift
Podcasting lectures allows a more rational use of classroom space on campus
Podcasting lectures allows students to listen more than once
Podcasting might allow you to come to campus a little less often

4. How will it work?
Sign up for a section taught by Dr. Gale, COMS 05, various sections are available.
You will meet once a week in a lab with your in-class instructor (also called a lab instructor).
You will do your speeches, activities, take exams or quizzes in-class once a week; you will listen to lectures mostly weekly, where you want to.
All lectures are available in three formats (streaming & slow and fast mp3) on WebCT.
The specific syllabus will be available from your in-class instructor.

5. Is this for me? This format of class is not for everyone.
You need to be able to work independently.
You will need some modest technical skills.
There are many other sections of COMS 05 taught in a traditional lecture/lab format.
You will be asked to do some special evaluations so that we can better understand how you liked the podcast lectures.

6. Additional info
You have two professors for this hybrid class of COMS05, both Dr. Gale and your in-class instructor. You will evaluate each separately.
You should plan on listening to two lectures for every chapter, both approximately a half-hour, and labeled A and B for each chapter. So, Chapter One is labeled podcast_1A and podcast_1B. Lectures for Chapter Two will be labeled podcast_2A and podcast_2B and so on.
