Growth rate peaked in the 60s and has been decreasing
Population is still rising, just not as quickly as before

Often times, we look at the age structure in order to determine growth
Lots of young people = rapid growth
Lots of older people = negative growth (lots at and/or beyond reproductive age)
About equal young and old = stable/slow growth
