Optical Stage Redesign
Team 4025 Overview: Using a technique known as Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), particle dynamics in the human lung are being researched at RIT Customer : Dr. Risa Robinson Team Mentor: Dr. Risa Robinson Project Coordinator : Dr. Alan Nye Objective: Create a device to hold a light sheet generator and digital camera capable of providing necessary movement such that the entire lung model can be viewed. $1207 out of $2000 Concept Budget Based on needs and feasibility assessment a final concept was chosen Project expenditure is under budget Camera Human Lung Model Design Final Product Entire concept was created and simulated in PRO-E Light Sheet Generator (Laser) Testing Testing was performed to ensure customer performance requirements were achieved Left to Right: Nate Smith : ME Adam Pruyne : Team Manager ME Andrew Gallagher : EE Analysis Critical parts were analyzed using a finite element package called ANSYS Manufacturing Redesign All components were manufactured at RIT by team members. Based on prototype development some components required redesign
