Arrival Arrive minutes early If by stroke of luck, you are going to be late, please keep the number of the HR person or your interviewer handy. Give them plenty of heads-up If it is hot, I suggest come 20 minutes early, sit in the office building, help your sweat dry Go to the bathroom, wash and dry your face Pleasantly greet the receptionist

Warm handshake (don’t use two hands please) If they offer coffee or water, please do accept it Small niceties Appreciate family photos Avoid Political discussions “EXIT” line Mutual connection(s) Can I work from home? Avoid the “funny” stuff Don’t bitch about the previous job or company Books, blogs, forums, professional groups

Sitting Sit upright Don’t SLOUCH Don’t stretch or spread your legs as a sign of casualness” Sit directly opposite to the interviewer It helps you gauge his reactions On a philosophical side, it helps you catch each other’s positive vibes 100%

Interviewing the interviewer: What’s your team What’s your management style How do you handle employee failure What’s your technology roadmap Why do we have this opening What do you expect from me: Day 1, day 30, day 90 What do you think about training

Closing: Definitely ask pointed questions: Is there anything in my resume or our talks that you would like me to work upon? When do I expect to hear from you? What are the next steps and when? Warm handshake again Ask if the interviewer would like to connect on linked in(not Facebook) and follow up Don’t bring up Salary

Logging: Maintain a simple spreadsheet The spreadsheet should consist of company name date of interviews name of interviewers name of position short JD source once that chapter is closed
