2 What God Says About Himself Part II

3 God Wants Us to Know Him

4 The Revelation of God God has reveled Himself, and therefore can be known: By revelation we mean that act of God whereby He discloses Himself or communicates the truth to the mind. The revelation may occur in a single, instantaneous act or it may extend over a long period of time. There are two kinds of revelation; General and Special.

5 WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT HIMSELF
God is a Spirit: (Jo 4:24) “Spirit” means incorporeal being. God is a real Being who does not exist in or through a physical body. God is a Person: Because God is a Person, He also has a will, the volitional aspect of personality. He has the ability to make his own decisions and choose his own actions (John 4:34; Rom. 12:2). God is Self-Existent: He exists independent of all other things in the universe. (Ps 90:2; Eph 1:3-4) God is Unchanging: Since God by definition is perfect (Ps. 102:25-27), any changes in His being would make Him less than perfect.

7 The Wrath of God

8 God of Wrath The wrath of God is His reaction to man’s sin and denotes God’s resolute action in punishing sin. (Rom 1:18) The Bible points out that just as God is good to those who trust Him, so is He terrible to those who do not. (Nahum 1:2-8; 2 Thess 1:8) God’s wrath is always Judicial. It is in proportion to human sinfulness. (Lk 12:47; Rom 2:5-6) God’s wrath is satisfied in Christ. (Rom 3:26; 5:8-10)

9 The Grace of God

10 THE GOD OF GRACE What is grace? God’s love freely shown towards sinners. The unmerited favor, mercy, compassion, acceptance, kindness, graciousness, goodwill, and divine assistance of God. This is God’s saving grace. (1 Cor 15:10; Eph 2:5-8) The divine life, power, and ability of God flowing and operating through us in order to give us the supernatural power and ability for ministry and sanctification. This is God helping us overcome different types of sins and temptations. (1 Cor 10:13

11 Abusing the Grace of God
We cannot use the grace of God that we have just been saved with as an excuse and a license to keep on sinning. (Rom 6:1-2) The grace of God gives us the power and the ability to be able to stay out of sin after we have been saved. (Rom 6:14-15) Grace enters the believer into God’s perfect plan and destiny for their life. (Acts 13:43; Heb 12:1-2)

12 Do Not Abuse the Grace of God
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?” (Romans 6:1-2) “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” (Romans 6:14-15)

13 Grace and Salvation Belong Together
Grace is the source of the pardon of sin. Our Judge has become our Saviour. (Jo 3:16; Rom 3:24; Eph 2:5; Tit 2:11) Grace is the motive of the plan of salvation. Conversion is not an accident, but an act of God which had its place in an eternal plan to bless the saved with the free gift of salvation from sin (Acts 2:23-24; Rom 8:29) Grace is the guarantee of the preservation of the saints. As grace leads to faith, so will grace will keep the saint believing to the end. (Phil 1:6; 1 Pet 1:5)

14 God's Plan of Salvation Connects God with Mankind
Salvation brings the redeemed ones in the closest of relationship with God. God Himself took the initiative in quenching His own wrath against those whom He loved and had chosen to save (Rom 5:8-11; 1 Jo 4:9) Salvation manifests God’s righteousness. God is just, and the Justifier of those that have faith in Jesus. (Isa 53:4-10) Those who reject God’s salvation face an eternity of rejectedness (Jo 8:25-29; Gal 6:7)
