The threshold cycle (Ct) is the number of cycles at which the fluorescence signal reached a fixed threshold above baseline. 4 Figure 3 Influence of the -174G/C polymorphism of IL-6 on the concentrations of IL-6 in the dialysate (A) and plasma (B). The ELISA was performed in duplicate in the 56 PD patients for whom frozen plasma and dialysate samples obtained at the time of the first PET were available. The plasma and dialysate IL-6 concentrations were significantly higher in patients harboring the CC and GC genotypes compared with the GG genotype [plasma IL-6 (geometric means 95% CI): 6.75 (4.07–10.96) and 5.5 (3.72–7.94) vs (1.82–3.55) respectively, ANOVA, P = 0.002][dialysate IL-6 (geometric means 95% CI): (40.74–181.97) and (51.29–181.97) vs (20.89–40.74) respectively, P = 0.003].
