1 Quantification of Ventricular Volume Load in the Context of a Bidirectional Cavopulmonary Shunt: A Theoretical Treatise  Tjark Ebels, MD, PhD, Ymkje J. van Slooten, MD, Nynke J. 2 Fig. 1 Table to facilitate the calculation of Q˙v/Q˙ivc. Oxygen saturations measured in the Aorta (Sao), Pulmonary Veins (Spv) and Inferior Vena Cava (Sivc) are used to calculate the Q˙p/Q˙ivc ratio by (Sao − Sivc)/(Spv − Sao). The horizontal axis shows (Sao − Sivc). The vertical axis shows (Spv − Sao). At the intersection the corresponding Q˙v/Q˙ivc can be found considering that Q˙v = Q˙p + Q˙ivc thus Q˙v/Q˙ivc = Q˙p/Q˙ivc + 1. By repeating the measurements and calculations in two different situations the difference in Q˙v/Q˙ivc can be calculated.
