16 Australian Contribution to RDA
Australia has been central to the design, development and success of the RDA Significant Australian influence on the definition of international standards and data protocol agreements Concrete demonstration of fundamental importance of accessing insights, policies, practices and knowledge from Australia Contribution to global (rather than transatlantic) nature of community

17 The heart of RDA … 95 groups
Interest Groups Working Groups develop and implement tools, policy, practices & products for data management that are adopted and used by projects, organisations, communities TIMING: MONTHS TOTAL: 34 Working Groups focus on solving a specific data sharing problem and identifying what kind of infrastructure needs to be built. TIMING: as long as group is active TOTAL: 61 Interest Groups RECOMMENDATIONS: Concrete deliverables - “Running code”, tools, standards, etc. OUTPUT: Possibly case statements for new WGs, guidelines, best practice, etc. @resdatall CC BY-SA 4.0

20 RDA Recommendations & Outputs
SUPPORTING OUTPUTS OTHER OUTPUTS Equivalent of the “specifications” or “standards” that other organisations create and endorse. 19 Recommendations of which 8 ICT Technical Specifications Outputs of RDA WGs and IGs that are fruit of RDA work, but are not necessarily adoptable bridges. 13 Supporting Outputs Anything a WG or IG wants to register and report, e.g. workshop reports, articles, survey results, etc. @resdatall CC BY-SA 4.0

37 What makes RDA unique Dynamic community-driven open international forum. an international mandate from constituencies and is thus operating globally. impartial and independent, serving the international data community without a particular political bias. Operates at a supra-disciplinary level, and especially addresses data related issues that emerge in that scope. not funding agency and does not compete for research funding in the regular circuits unless specific expertise is requested by community. @resdatall CC BY-SA 4.0

38 Collaborate, Co-operate, Co-create
If you want to go fast, go alone If you want to go far, go together African Proverb

39 Special thanks to our Australian champions
