As with America and Europe– extensive trade routes Labor more valued than land (obviously different from Europe) Exchange begins- European technology for slave labor

1492…Spanish Isabella and Ferdinand authorized Italian-born mariner Christopher Columbus to make contact with “the lands of India.” Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria reach Hispaniola (island) in about two months
