Context Portfolio includes a variety of writing including a research paper, a lesson plan, a unit plan, instruction to students, reflection statements. All students, regardless of the program, need to complete professional portfolio by the end of student teaching.

Writing outcomes Candidates will be able to communicate clearly in order to provide instruction to their students. Candidates will be able to write instructional plans. Candidates will be able to document their professional growth in written reflection.

How the targeted writing outcomes will be demonstrated All candidates are required to submit their professional portfolio at the end of student teaching, SEFE455/ SEFE456. University Supervisors grade their portfolios. A portfolio will include a variety of instruction including lesson plans, unit plans, reflections about their professional growth, and written instructions to their students.

2008 NCATE Standard Standard 1: Candidate Knowledge, Skills, and Professional Dispositions Candidates preparing to work in schools as teachers or other school professionals know and demonstrate the content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge and skills, pedagogical and professional knowledge and skills, and professional dispositions necessary to help all students learn. Assessments indicate that candidates meet professional, state, and institutional standards

2008 NCATE Standard Standard 3: Field Experiences and Clinical Practice The unit and its school partners design, implement, and evaluate field experiences and clinical practice so that teacher candidates and other school professionals develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions necessary to help all students learn.

Implementation The candidates submit their portfolio at the end of student teaching, SEFE455/ SEFE456, to their university supervisors. The university supervisors assess their portfolio.

What criteria will be used to determine if the outcome has been successful? The assessment rubric will use the scoring system with four scales: unsatisfactory, Basic, Proficient, and Distinguished. At least 75% of candidates must score at least Basic in all categories.

Data Collection Data will be collected every semester for the candidates completing student teaching. The departments assessment committee will analyze the data every year.
