4 Where can I find good information and publications on my topic? Use databases to find scholarly and research journal articles, ebooks, and reference sources (encyclopedias & dictionaries) Use Library Catalog “Destiny” to find books, ebooks, and videos/digital media Use Google to find websites

How to Search in any Library Database
5 How to Search in any Library Database Keyword (any word in the author, title, subjects, or description of the work. Author (articles or books written by this person) Title (name of one specific article or book) Subject (use subject words, such as “overpopulation,” “autism,” “business start-up,” “Asian Carp,” “tiramisu,” “Alzheimer’s.”(Tutorials). Combining words (use “and,” “or,” or “not” to narrow or broaden your search. This is called “Boolean search.” (Tutorials) Smart text search (Only EBSCO databases have this option. You may enter a sentence or a question, and it searches keywords automatically).

To Search the Library Catalog
11 To Search the Library Catalog From the Library web site, click “Books & Ebooks” Tab, then click the Library Catalog “Destiny” The computer catalog contains bibliographic records of all books, videos, and ebooks currently owned by St. Augustine College.

Books and eBooks Use SAC’s Library Catalog to identify which books or ebooks you want. Books owned by St. Augustine College Library are housed at the Main Campus, and will be sent to other sites upon individual request. SAC ebooks are available at all times anywhere you have an Internet connection.

13 Library Book Checkout With a current SAC ID card, students, faculty, and staff may check out print books from the IC Library, main campus. Books are checked out for 2 weeks, and may be renewed. Contact a Technology Library Assistant who will request a book or video to be sent to another site for your pickup, unless the book is already checked out. Please allow 2-3 days. Library Desk

14 Interlibrary Loans SAC Library will request an Interlibrary Loan book or journal article from another library upon request from any current SAC faculty, staff, or student with valid SAC ID card (allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.) Send an to requesting an Interlibrary Loan. Include the following information: For a book, include author, title, publisher, date of publication. For a journal article, include author, title of article, name of journal, volume, issue number, date, and page numbers. Name of library that owns the item, if known Borrower’s name, phone, and . 15 SAC eBooks SAC Library has lots of online ebooks in all subject areas, and ebooks in Spanish, too. Ebrary (ProQuest) – over 165,000 titles includes Spanish titles. Ebook Collection (Ebsco) – about 5,000 titles Search by author, title, or keyword. You can print, save, download, add to folder, cite, and export. Ebrary and Ebsco ebooks have different search and save functions; follow screen directions. You may need to login (Slide 3)
