18 Take-home Messages Clinical Trials are an excellent way to answer important public health questions They require rigorous design, conduct, and analysis They require oversight for safety and confidentiality A strong code of ethics is essential

19 Take-home Messages Clinical Trials need to have adequate power to demonstrate a clinically important difference. Non-significant results are inconclusive (rarely if ever showing no difference). Sequential monitoring is important for many trials.
