Slides2 – Please remind the students that they need to complete the 10 hours of volunteering by the 30th October Slides 6 – 9 Starter – get the students into pairs and get them to come up with aims and objectives for a paper plane competition. You will need lined and plain paper from the Welsh Bacc office Slides 10 + lesson content Lesson info This lesson is to get the students to come up with a 3 x aims and 2 x objectives for each aim. Go through the slides that show some examples of what aims and objectives are. There is a worksheet that needs to be completed to help them go through the process of writing up aims and objectives in student resources. Once they have finished the worksheet, the students can then transfer their work to their individual project document. PLEASE use the notes pages to help you with the slides Homework – due in next lesson To collect evidence and complete their volunteering booklets ready for the next lesson as they will need to use these in the 2 lessons after half term.

4 Starter - Paper Aeroplanes.....
Get into pairs and answer the following question within 2 minutes…… What are the aims and objectives of a paper aeroplane competition? After the two minutes you need to explain to them what they are.....don’t show them the next slide until they’ve had the two minutes! Get feedback from the class Aim – What you are setting out to do Objectives – The steps you needs to take to get there.

What you are setting out to do Objectives – The steps you needs to take to get there. Where Does an AIM come into this? CLASS DISCUSSION: Get students to discuss what they were trying to achieve in a paper aeroplane competition. This can be defined as an AIM- Win the competition. Write on the whiteboard what their class aim will be.

6 Paper Aeroplanes (2) What is your aim of the Paper Aeroplane competition? (look on the whiteboard) Now write the answer to the following question: What are your objectives? How are you going to reach your aim? Now you can get making-you have 5 minutes. Make sure they have understood the slide beforehand and that the understand that the aim is to win the competition. What 2 objectives do they need to complete their aim? Pair activity: Get students work in pairs to try to write 2 objectives as 2 steps they needed to achieve the aim of the paper aeroplane competition. Lined and white paper is available in the Welsh Bacc office. Objectives, get paper, design plane, practise throwing, refine design, do competition ACTIVITY: Ask students to create a paper aeroplane within 5 minutes then hold a paper plane throwing competition. (5 minute logo is hyperlinked to the website)

You now need to apply your understanding of what an aim is, to create your own aims. Each aim should be No more than two sentences long A summary of what you hope to achieve in your investigation Should include the detail of your title There needs to be a minimum of 3 aims There is an example on the next slide

AIMS AND OBJECIVES TASK : Transfer your aims and objectives from your lesson 8 worksheet to your project document. Ask a peer to see if your aims and objectives will help you investigate your project title. Make an changes that you and your peer think is needed
