Aim: To aid the FSU SAE team in their efforts during the Baja competition
Introduction/ Background
Each year the FSU SAE team participates in the national Baja competition, this project is meant to augment their car with useful information: fuel tracking, position, speed, tire pressure, and real-time data comms with the pit crew
Objectives
Develop a portable system that can be transferred from car to car as the SAE team iterates their designs.
Add extra functionality to any car design with limited effort needed to apply said functionality
Technical Approach/Results
Needed a way to measure the amount of fuel left in the tank without modifying the gas tank, so we went with an inline flow sensor to measure the amount of fuel that passes out of the tank to the engine
We used RF transceivers to communicate to and from the car and pit crew
GPS coordinates are include to locate the car incase of emergency
Future Work
Future work would be adding more modules. These modules would include, but not limited to, TPMS, integrating speed, and acceleration.
