2 Figure 1 High-resolution imaging by using 2-balloon radial EUS. A, Conceptual diagram of two balloon occlusion radial EUS. Using a grasping ring made from thread, an indwelling balloon (yellow arrow) is inserted in the distal side of the esophagus. Another balloon (red arrow) is fitted onto an endoscope. B, A subepithelial tumor 10 mm in diameter with a somewhat irregular surface was observed in the right wall of the middle thoracic esophagus. C, Radial EUS requires filling the esophagus with deaerated water. However, when the esophagus is infused with deaerated water, it flows into the stomach. D, Due to unfavorable pooling of deaerated water, favorable images could not be obtained. E, The esophagus, which was between the indwelling balloon and the balloon fitted onto the endoscope, was made into an occluded cavity filled with water. F, Detailed observation of the tumor and layer structure was possible. Gastrointestinal Endoscopy  , DOI: ( /j.gie ) Copyright © 2015 The Authors Terms and Conditions
