2 1920s Fashion Women Beautiful coordinated and accessorized outfits were a feature of 1920's ladies fashions. Hats, shoes, stockings, handbags, dresses and jewelry all came together in harmony to create a unique and elegant style that can only be appreciated when seen in real-life or in color illustrations. The vibrancy is lost in black and white photographs.

3 1920s Fashion Men Men wore Jos. A. Bank suits back in the Roaring Twenties and the label is still around almost 100 years later. Men dressed "Jazz Suits" marked by their high, narrow waists

4 1920s Children Fashion Although many families struggled with the hardship of little money, mothers were resourceful using their needlework skills to create enchanting clothing for their little ones

5 Great Depression These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations. The photographs are the property of the Library of Congress and were included in a 2006 exhibit Bound for Glory: America in Color.

12 Scottsboro Boys’ Case The case that occurred in 1926 in Alabama (when the story takes place) 9 boys were accusing of raping two white men Boys were brought to trial and convicted The white “victims” later admitted to lying about the story

Many in the South still believed in and strictly followed the Jim Crow Laws One of the poorest states during the Depression Few blacks owned property and few voted because of racism
