6 What were some of Father Lacombe’s Major Accomplishments?
Negotiated a peaceful agreement with the Blackfoot leader, Chief Crowfoot, to allow the tracks of the Canadian Pacific Railway to pass through Blackfoot territory Convinced Chief Crowfoot not to join the Riel Rebellion of 1885 Baptized 2000 First Nations people in the summer of 1870 – including Chief Sweet – Grass Helped establish the Lacombe Separate School District #1 (now known as Calgary Separate School Division)

Built Western Canada’s first bridge in 1862, over Sturgeon River with the help of his flock Built Father Lacombe Chapel in St. Albert in 1861 Built the Father Lacombe Care Center (Lacombe Home) for orphans and elderly in 1910 in Midnapore Built a Hermitage to Saint Michel in Pincher Creek, Alberta Land obtained by Father Lacombe eventually was used to build St. Mary’s High School

All entries will be submitted to Templeton by December 1, 2016. Entries will use poster paper provided and use whatever material you see fit (i.e., draw, paste, colour, sketch, etc.) A title with a short description of the poster and T.A. information to be attached to the entry Winners will be announced the week of December 12, Winning entries will be displayed in the main entrance and office. Prizes as follows for best judged poster (presentation and idea(s)): First prize - Lunch for the T.A. Second prize - Snacks for the T.A. Third prize - T-shirts for the T.A
