2. Just add water…
Goal: To simulate a scenario where the Earth is completely submerged with water.
Assumption: Water is uniformly added from an outside source.
Think aliens with a large garden hose.
Method: Modified the ocean area code to alter sea level.
Subtract an interval from each elevation H(iy,ix), taken from data set “topography_180x360_grid.txt”. I used a 10 meter interval.
New ocean area (or volume) can be calculated at each step.
