The highest form of corporate Christian worship is the Lord’s Supper.
[It] directs our attention backward to the work of Christ on the cross and…forward to the second coming of Christ.
52
In addition, it provides a time for believers to examine their own
personal relationship with God as well as their relationship with other believers…

Ancient Corinth Paul and the church at Corinth 2 Corinthians 1:23-29
57
In 146 BC, the Romans… laid Corinth to waste
59
In 44 BC Julius Caesar restored Corinth to is former glory
He named it in honor of himself: Colonia Laus Iulia Corinthiensis.
60
In Paul’s day about four hundred thousand inhabitants in Corinth.
The commerce of the world flowed through the two harbours connected with the city
61
The population consisted of Greeks, Jews, Scythians, Italians, and a mixed multitude
Sailors, merchants, adventurers, and refugees from all corners of the Roman Empire filled its streets Unknown Author

Corinth was a “den of iniquity…”
So much so, that if a person had reached the “depth of depravity” they were said to have been Corinthianized

Paul and the Church at Corinth
In Corinth, Paul met Aquila and Priscilla who had been exiled from Rome The Corinthians had urged Paul to come to them. Apparently, Paul wrote them a letter to address errors that had come into the church.
65
The church wanted Paul to address matters of political issues, religion, domestic problems, heathenism, and morality. We do not have that first letter Paul answered their request, also addressing reports that had been brought to him.
66
There were no verses or chapters in the original writings
From chapter 1 through 11:22, Paul address the issues J.V. McGee

On the night when He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took some bread
24 and gave thanks to God for it. Then He broke it in pieces and said, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
71
25 In the same way, He took the cup of wine after supper, saying,
“This cup is the new covenant between God and His people— an agreement confirmed with My blood.

and drinking the cup.
85
May I be willing, Lord, to bear Daily my cross for Thee; Even Thy cup of grief to share, Thou hast borne all for me
86
