Building the mBot and how it works.
2
By the end of this session you will be able to:
Follow instructions and build your mBot Identify the mBot sensors Expeirment with the mBot sensors Document how easch sensor works and how it adapts to it’s surroundings Explore how scratch can be used to programme the mBot Experiement how scratch can be used Document how scratch works with the mBot
3
It’s alive! In groups of two, you will be given an mBot and following instructions you will need to build your mBot. Please be careful with the components of the mBot, as they are fragile and can break easily Take it in turns to do different sections of the construction I would like you to create a blog on the build, take photos, video the construction, but be inventive as to how you show the build.
4
Ultrasonic sensor This measures distance and avoid obstacles from 3cm up to 4 meters with the Me Ultrasonic Sensor. Research how this sensor works I would like you to document how the sensor helps the mBot to avoid obstacles. Finding objects from around the room, build a basic obstacle course to demonstrate the use of the sensor. Document how this obstacle course impacted on the mBot
5
Follower module This sensor, allows the mBot to follow a black line.
Research how this sensor works Using the map in the box, document how this sensor responds to this. I would like you to have a go at recreating a different black line course and see how the mBot responds. Document this process and how well did it work. What changes would you need to make?
6
Wireless module On your phone, download the mBot app and experiment with how the wireless module works. Document this process and identify issues that could be found.
7
Scratch and the mBot Adam will introduce you to how scratch can work with the mBot module and how you can control it. You will need to create a blog to show how you can do this? You are to create a short movement for the mBot. Document how you have done this and how this impacts the mBot.
