Background Throughout 2013 Eurostat received several requests for statistical data on the enlargement countries to be used as targets and performance indicators in planned assistance programmes IPA The current work on indicators represent a wish to measure the impact of the assistance as well as the performance of the beneficiaries.

IPAII – The European Commission is preparing the next round of IPA for the period National component and regional component Sector components Result orientation Impact of the assistance Performance of beneficiaries DG Enlargement lead the work with identifying indicators to monitor the results of the assistance in all areas of assistance, not just statistics

Summary – experiences with the work on indicators
How specific should an indicator be? Often trade-off between 'noise' and availability Ideally the indicator will measure closely the effect of the assistance, without measuring 'other' effects Correlation Target setting Data quality
