What are pronouns? Pronouns take the place of nouns. The word or phrase replaced by a pronoun is called an antecedent.

Examples Tom is one of the best athletes in the school. He scored 5 goals in yesterday’s game. (Tom is a noun. He is a pronoun that refers to the antecedent, Tom.)

Pronouns Examples: I, me, my, mine, you, your, yours, he, him, his, she, her, hers, it, its, they, them, their, theirs, we, us, our, ours. Sentence examples: I want to give her the pencil. Their best game was last week.

Now it’s your turn! Find the pronoun in the following sentences.
Chelsea is the best soccer team in the world. They won the championship this year. Tiger Woods is in the lead at the tournament. He is leading by 4 shots. She completed the test in 5 minutes.
