Mrs. Hollowell Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy 2016-2017
6th Grade Reading/Writing Mrs. Hollowell Late / Incomplete Work Absentee Policy * Homework is regularly given out in my classroom. I expect homework to be turned in by the date that I have set. If it is not turned in, students are expected to fill out my form on why the homework was not turned in. The times and reasons why homework was late will then be made known to your parents at parent teacher conferences or sooner if there is a need to do so. * Printer and Internet issues are not an excuse for late work. I am usually available to help work out these issues or I can be contacted before it is due to discuss the issues. * If homework is turned in late 3 times, then the student will be written up. * 10% will be deducted from the grade of any late assignment. If more than 10 days late, the assignment will be scored a zero. * YES, WE DID SOMETHING IMPORTANT WHILE YOU WERE ABSENT. It is the student’s responsibility to check the absent folder in the classroom to find any assignments missed. * A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day a student was absent. If a quiz was administered on a day a student was absent, the quiz must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of the absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns. Technology Student tablets will be used daily in Writing and Reading. Students will need to have their tablets to type papers, do research, take quizzes, etc. Students are expected to come to class with their tablets CHARGED and are expected to abide by all school and district digital safety rules and guidelines. Failure to do so will result in said student being banned from technology while in Writing and Reading. AR Points Student Outcomes The student will be responsible for any handouts or notes given in class. Interruptions of the educational process are inappropriate. All students need an equal opportunity for success and interruptions reduce the ability of teacher and students to succeed. Negative behavior results in consequences; in contrast, positive behavior will be reinforced and rewarded. Students will have goals set every quarter that they will have to meet to get full points for that quarter. It is important that students don’t put off reading till the end of the quarter because meeting those goals can be difficult. The percentage of the goal points scored will be posted in the grade book three weeks before the end of the quarter. This score may affect the student’s grade if they had not been reading and passing reading tests up till that point. I, ________________________________________, have read and understand the rules and expectations for Middle School Reading and Writing. I acknowledge that it is my responsibility to contact my teacher if I have any questions or concerns. I know that this syllabus, assignments, calendars, and resources are available to me on the school website. I understand that there is no excuse for late work and that I will try my best in class to be a successful student.
