2. Definition of Title I:
Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind.
Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch.
Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

3. LPELC operates a Title I
School-Wide Program.

4. Schoolwide means:
The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school.
Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement.
Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

5. To be a “Schoolwide” School:
The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 40%.
The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement.
The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan.

9. Focus Goals
Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards.
Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.
Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.
Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities.

18. Parent’s Right to Know – Student Achievement
Parents will receive score reports and other information regarding their student’s performance on required assessments. This information will be sent home within the first sixty days of school and will also be shared during home visits, open house and parent-teacher conferences.

19. Academic Achievement and Educator Qualifications
Schools are required to notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher that is not highly qualified.
Parents at any time may request information regarding the professional qualifications of their student’s teachers and principal.

Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

23. Parent Involvement in Decision Making
On the request of parents, provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions, and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. These regular meeting include, but are not limited to, monthly Parent Connection Events. La Promesa will respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.

If you are interested in serving on more or more committees, please sign up on one of the posters displayed in the cafeteria. Committees will meet on a quarterly basis for no longer than 45 minutes per meeting. Refreshments and child care will be provided.
