Your group will respond to questions on chart paper. 6:30 – 6:45 Class discussion on group responses 6:45 – 7:15 Integration: What is it and how can reduce stress and promote more effective learning? Can personalizing school work help? 7:15 – 8:00 Group and individual work on integrating all of your classes into your web page or powerpoint or portfolio. 1.Write personal responses to webinar questions. Post to your web page or powerpoint. 2.Post your baseball answers to web pages and addresses to instructor OR powerpoints of baseball answers for chapters 1-3.

Discussion Points Brainstorm a list of your responsibilities strictly as a student and list. Think about the stress responses. What happens in school that inhibits learning? What is it and how can reduce stress and promote more effective learning? Can personalizing school work help?

FEBRUARY 8 5:30 – 6:15 Get in 3 groups to play Jeopardy. Divide up the questions between group members and answer on chart paper. Video record the responses by category. Begin posting videos to youtube. 6:15 – 7:00 PLAY JEOPARDY 7:00 – 7:30 Read excerpt from Reality is Broken and write group responses to questions . Share group responses 7:30 – 8:00 View thesis Powerpoint and multimedia class web page with videos and animated powerpoints and study guides Assignments: 1. Personal responses to Reality is Broken questions due 2/15. Please post to web pages or powerpoint. 2. Baseball questions from chapters 4-6 are due by MARCH 1.

Discussion Points Free response: What is the significance of the games invented 3000 years ago in Lydia? What do games provide the school does not? How do games compel players to achieve missions, cooperate, and solve problems? What is the payoff for players? What can we learn from games, game designers, gamers? Can these concepts help us as teachers?

Link various study guides to your web pages? 6:15 – 6:45 Test your study guide with a test. 6:45 – 7:20 Grade your own test or trade with a partner. 7:20 – 8:00 Preview chapter 4 and Chapter 7 on assessment. Group responses to discussion questions and time to work on personal web pages and personal responses to questions. Assignments: Personal responses to Chapter 4 & 7 questions due 2/22. FEBRUARY 22 Objective: start integrated unit using what you know about: Your analysis of your personal learning Your understanding of the brain’s need for connections and relevance Your understanding of how curricula and school instruction impacts the brain Key concepts from chapters 1-4 & 7 such as ; engagement, assessment, writing, reading with a purpose, brain research, conscious discipline and schema.
