4 OBJECT… The object of the game is to become the wealthiest player through buying, renting and selling property. BANKER… Select as Banker (someone who is very good at math) The Banker plays in the game but must keep his/her personal funds separate from those of the Bank THE BANK… Besides the Bank’s money, the Bank holds the Title Deed cards and houses and hotels prior to purchase and use by the players. The Bank pays salaries each time a player passes GO. The Bank collects all taxes, fines, loans and interest, and the price of all properties which it sells. The Bank never “goes broke.”

John D. Henry Ford- Captain of the Automobile Industry and Inventor of the Assembly Line

Thomas Edison - an inventor who is credited for lighting and mechanical uses of electricity Alexander Graham Bell - an inventor who is credited for developing telephone service Jane Addams: Founder and creator of the settlement house, Hull House located in Chicago, Ill.

9 Work in a group of four (4).
Create a monopoly game board (provided for you) Use people and places from the Industrialization Period of U.S. History II (USII.4b & d).

10 Directions to set up your board and play:
1.Decide who will represent each side of the board with a Captain of Industry. Choose 2 of eight colors to be used to color code your property. 2. Create your properties using the vocabulary given. For example, Pennsylvania Ave., Pittsburgh Lane, Steel Drive. Be sure you DO NOT repeat the same names for your properties. Color top bar. 3. ***Note: You must have two sets of properties: 3 and 3, or 2 and 3 with an electrical or telephone service property. Each side already has a Railroad property. ***Be sure to color top bar of each property.

11 Decide how much each property will cost.
4. Write in the names and cost of each property on the board. 5. Create Property Cards for each of your properties using index cards provided. Color code to match your properties. 6. Color code your money. Lightly shade: 5’s= yellow 10’s=blue 20’s=green Cut out your money. Each player is to begin with: *5 fives *5 tens *5 twenties The rest of the money goes in the “Bank” Select an item to be your game piece.
