‘God could have reached His object in saving sinners without our aid; but in order for us to develop a character like Christ’s, we must share in His work. In order to enter into His joy – the joy of seeing souls redeemed by His sacrifice – we must participate in His labors for their redemption.’ – Desire of Ages p.142 Testimony Bible student’s life changed joy of leading a soul to Christ, seeing the Spirit transforming / changing someone’s life before your eyes is a great privilege. What is the model? Three equally important parts: Sharing a meal
Components of CARE Groups – ‘fellowship and in break of bread’ Keep it simple healthy vegetarian; not a 5 course meal! Roster for members and regular seekers (encourage participation) Encourage fellowship during meal times (e.g. icebreaker at the table) Keep to time (40-50 minutes) Celebrate birthdays with something special What is the model? Three equally important parts: Sharing a meal Meals: Keep is simple Make a roster Involve everyone even though they may not know how to cook – bring fruits 40-50 minutes Vegetarian – teach our health message Table icebreakers Involve the quiet people; intentionally seat with them Word: Teach using a series Relational – not head knowledge Not a place to teach proof text doctrine A place to “bait” and share all the unique SDA Belief (not be shy on this) State the biblical truth; stir interest and teach leaders to handle questions Questions raised should be handled carefully Reply by saying: ‘that is a good question, is there any related question’ Train leaders to know 3 verses per major theme e.g. Salvation, Sabbath, Second Coming etc Answer by giving Bible verses rather than giving them ‘your own interpretation’ – Look at the Bible together Never use EGW Not a book reading – even ‘Steps to Christ’ Promote the series to friends / people can cope with series not an unplanned process Teach from the Bible and the Bible alone At sharing time get people to reflect and share what they can apply Sharing: Everyone can answer these 2 questions – simple enough for everyone Start with the leaders first Sharing depth is modelled by the leader; if the leaders share deep – the people will grow to be authentic and deeper in relationship Break to smaller groups; when sharing – if they are the same groups each time; people will get comfortable with each other and share Listen well to their needs; hear the unspoken words; watch their body language Pray intentionally; claim bible promises for them Ask permission to write into prayer book; ask permission to pray for them; ask if they would like to prayer / or comfortable to pray Seekers can see the power of God; answering prayers Count your blessings for all the answered prayer e.g. at the end of the year 15

Components of CARE Groups – ‘apostle doctrine’
What is the model? Three equally important parts: Sharing a meal Word – relevant & simple Bible & Bible alone; no book reading Teach using a series (Gateway Website) Relational with strong application minutes (not doctrinal time) Not be ashamed to share the unique Adventist beliefs; to stir interest Questions to be handled by asking them to expand and give a ‘bible-based’ response Train leaders to know 3 verse reference per major Bible theme e.g. Sabbath Meals: Keep is simple Make a roster Involve everyone even though they may not know how to cook – bring fruits 40-50 minutes Vegetarian – teach our health message Table icebreakers Involve the quiet people; intentionally seat with them Word: Teach using a series Relational – not head knowledge Not a place to teach proof text doctrine A place to “bait” and share all the unique SDA Belief (not be shy on this) State the biblical truth; stir interest and teach leaders to handle questions Questions raised should be handled carefully Reply by saying: ‘that is a good question, is there any related question’ Train leaders to know 3 verses per major theme e.g. Salvation, Sabbath, Second Coming etc Answer by giving Bible verses rather than giving them ‘your own interpretation’ – Look at the Bible together Never use EGW Not a book reading – even ‘Steps to Christ’ Promote the series to friends / people can cope with series not an unplanned process Teach from the Bible and the Bible alone At sharing time get people to reflect and share what they can apply Sharing: Everyone can answer these 2 questions – simple enough for everyone Start with the leaders first Sharing depth is modelled by the leader; if the leaders share deep – the people will grow to be authentic and deeper in relationship Break to smaller groups; when sharing – if they are the same groups each time; people will get comfortable with each other and share Listen well to their needs; hear the unspoken words; watch their body language Pray intentionally; claim bible promises for them Ask permission to write into prayer book; ask permission to pray for them; ask if they would like to prayer / or comfortable to pray Seekers can see the power of God; answering prayers Count your blessings for all the answered prayer e.g. at the end of the year 16

Components of CARE Groups – ‘in prayer’
What is the model? Three equally important parts: Sharing a meal Word – relevant & simple Sharing Time ‘How was your week?’ ‘Anything to pray for?’ Everyone can answer these 2 questions Start with the leaders / members first Sharing depth is modelled by the leader Break to smaller group if required Listen well to their heart needs Pray intentionally by claiming Bible promises Ask permission to write into prayer book Seekers can see the power of the living God Meals: Keep is simple Make a roster Involve everyone even though they may not know how to cook – bring fruits 40-50 minutes Vegetarian – teach our health message Table icebreakers Involve the quiet people; intentionally seat with them Word: Teach using a series Relational – not head knowledge Not a place to teach proof text doctrine A place to “bait” and share all the unique SDA Belief (not be shy on this) State the biblical truth; stir interest and teach leaders to handle questions Questions raised should be handled carefully Reply by saying: ‘that is a good question, is there any related question’ Train leaders to know 3 verses per major theme e.g. Salvation, Sabbath, Second Coming etc Answer by giving Bible verses rather than giving them ‘your own interpretation’ – Look at the Bible together Never use EGW Not a book reading – even ‘Steps to Christ’ Promote the series to friends / people can cope with series not an unplanned process Teach from the Bible and the Bible alone At sharing time get people to reflect and share what they can apply Sharing: Everyone can answer these 2 questions – simple enough for everyone Start with the leaders first Sharing depth is modelled by the leader; if the leaders share deep – the people will grow to be authentic and deeper in relationship Break to smaller groups; when sharing – if they are the same groups each time; people will get comfortable with each other and share Listen well to their needs; hear the unspoken words; watch their body language Pray intentionally; claim bible promises for them Ask permission to write into prayer book; ask permission to pray for them; ask if they would like to prayer / or comfortable to pray Seekers can see the power of God; answering prayers Count your blessings for all the answered prayer e.g. at the end of the year 17
