1 Teachers notes – Introduction to the Task
Background - The context of the bag is set in the high street, in order to begin the process of designing for others, and collecting the views of others about their finished product. In line with current trends online retailers coul also be considered as a starting point. Possible teaching/discussion point - discussion with pupils about high street shops/online retailers, which are popular and why? Pupils are encouraged to think about ways of producing an original logo or decorative feature to begin the process of innovative thinking. Background – A brief outlining of what we would wish the pupils to aim for in this project, encouraging as high a level of achievement as possible. A brief introduction regarding assessment opportunities, ways in which they can discuss their work, negotiate targets and achieve their full potential. Pupils should also be encouraged/reminded to write/express their ideas and thoughts with clarity and the need for correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.

2 Background – As mentioned in the introductory page these “teacher characters “ are a means of conveying information, techniques or to prompt thinking and discussion. They became “our“ solution to placing too many impersonal text boxes. They may not appeal to everyone – but we did have fun drawing ourselves and worryingly the pupils recognise us! When we write the presentations, we try and animate what we think is appropriate to engage the pupils, but when we think that there is on opportunity to make a teaching point, or to allow for discussion, a click on the mouse or touch screen is required to move the presentation forward Just to reiterate we hope the project will be helpful ,and you will have fun mixing and matching some of the work to meet your teaching objectives.
