1 Identifying Documentation
Third in a series Identifying Documentation to be Completed This is the third presentation in a series about the web IEP from a teacher’s perspective. The purpose of this series is to provide an overview of the organization of the web IEP, the features available to a teacher and logic that is used to guide the teacher while creating an IEP with the web IEP application. During this presentation, the listener will be provided information on those areas where the web IEP identifies documentation that needs to be completed, based on certain circumstances. February 2011

2 Early Childhood Setting Code
The first area in which the web IEP identifies documentation that needs to be completed, based on certain circumstances is the Early Childhood Setting code. When a child is less than 6 years old on the date of the meeting, an Early Childhood Setting Code is required. In those situations, an ‘S’ button is displayed by the Early Childhood Setting code field in the Required System Data section at the bottom of Page A. Clicking on the ‘S’ button opens up the Early Childhood Setting Worksheet.

3 Early Childhood Setting, continued
The first question the teacher answers on the EC setting worksheet is “Does this child attend a Regular Early Childhood Program?”

4 Early Childhood Setting, continued
If ‘Yes’ is selected, the teacher must enter the number of minutes the child attends the regular program each week.  This number is divided by 60 minutes to determine the number of hours per week the child attends the Regular Early Childhood Program.

5 Early Childhood Setting, continued
If the calculation on the EC Setting worksheet is 10 or more hours per week, an ‘A’ code is computed on Page F.  If the number of hours per week is less than 10, a ‘B’ code is computed. And to be even more specific, if the total of Page F minutes in the ‘Reg EC Program’ setting is more than the total of minutes in the ‘special Education’ setting, the computed code will be ‘A1’.  If there are more total minutes in the ‘Special Education’ setting, the computed code would be ‘A2’.

6 Early Childhood Setting, continued
If the teacher answers “no” to the question on the EC setting worksheet “Does this child attend a Regular Early Childhood Program?”…

7 Early Childhood Setting, continued
…other setting options are presented which do not involve interaction with Page F.

8 Page B Transition Let’s move onto a different area: Page B Transition.
If the student will be 14 years of age when the end of the IEP period ends, as determined by the Duration To: date…

9 Page B Transition, continued
…the Page B format presented to the teacher is the ‘Transition’ format. The transition  format addresses information sources and results in the areas of Living, Learning and Working.

10 Behavior The 3rd area in which the web IEP identifies documentation that needs to be completed, based on certain circumstances is Behavior. If the Behavior checkbox for special considerations is marked ‘Yes, behavior is a concern and will be addressed in the attached Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan.’, the Additional Form ‘Functional Behavior Assessment is required.

11 Behavior, continued If the Behavior checkbox for special considerations is marked ‘Yes, behavior is a concern and will be addressed in the attached Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan.’, the Additional Form ‘Functional Behavior Assessment is required. This is the reminder that appears in the Incomplete Data Report when those two conditions are not met.

12 Behavior, continued If Behavior will be addressed in the IEP or is not a concern, the Functional Behavior Assessment is not required.

13 Early Childhood Outcomes (ECO)
The fourth and final area in which the web IEP identifies documentation that needs to be completed, based on certain circumstances is the Early Childhood Outcomes or ECO If the child’s Grade is marked as PK, the Early Childhood Outcomes form is required.

14 ECO, continued If the grade is Kindergarten, the ECO will require the teacher to indicate if this is the first IEP in K.  If yes is selected, the ECO is required.  If No is selected, the ECO will not be required.

15 Identifying Documentation
Third in a series Identifying Documentation to be Completed In summary, there are several areas in which the web IEP identifies documentation that needs to be completed, based on certain circumstances. This presentation concludes this series. February 2011
