2 DO NOW Think about what you know about water, explain how water is recycled throughout the atmosphere.

3 Biogeochemical Cycles
Read page 74 of the textbook and answer the following questions What do all organisms need to survive? List the four elements that make up 95% of the body of most living organisms. What is the purpose of the biogeochemical cycles? Explain why matter is able to be cycled through the biosphere. List the four cycles that help to recycle matter in the biosphere (pg ) Draw, color and label a picture of the water cycle. Write 3-4 sentences to describe each stage of the water cycle. This assignment is due at the end of the class period.

4 Biogeochemical Cycles
Read page 76 of the textbook and answer the following questions What are the nutrients of all living organisms? Explain how primary producers and consumers obtain nutrients. Explain why living organisms need nutrients. Draw, color and label a picture of the carbon cycle. Make a list of biological processes that take up and release carbon and oxygen Make a list of the geochemical process that release carbon dioxide Make a list of the biogeochemical processes that store carbon underground Make a list of the human activities that release carbon dioxide This assignment is due at the end of the class period.

5 Biogeochemical Cycles
Read page 78 of the textbook and answer the following questions Explain why all organisms need nitrogen. What percentage of Nitrogen gas can be found in the atmosphere? Draw, color and label a picture of the nitrogen cycle. Write one paragraph (8-10 sentences)to describe the importance of the nitrogen cycle. This assignment is due at the end of the class period.

6 Biogeochemical Cycles
Read page 79 of the textbook and answer the following questions Explain the importance of phosphorus to all living organisms. List the places where phosphorus can be found in the biosphere. Explain how is phosphorus released so that it can be used by plants and animals Draw, color and label a picture of the phosphorus cycle. Write one paragraph to explain how phosphorus cycles through the ecosystem. This assignment is due at the end of the class period.
