Safety Vocab. Gangrene- death of tissue in a party of the body
Sprain- stretching or tearing of a ligament Fainting- temporary loss of consciousness brought by reduced blood to brain Rabies- viral disease of nervous system carried by animals Frostbite condition when ice crystals form in spaces between body cells

Washing your hands Step 1- wet hands with water
Step 2- apply enough soap to cover all surface of hands Step 3 – rub hand palm to palm Step 4 –rub back of each hand with palm of other hand Step 5 –rub palm to palm with fingers laced Step 6- rub back of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked Step 7- rub each thumb clasped in opposite hand using a rotational movement Step 8- rub tips of fingers in opposite palm in circular motion Step 9- rub wrists Step 10- rinse hands with water Step 11 – use elbow to turn off water Step 12-dry thoroughly with a single-use towel Step 13- dry for seconds

Incision- cut from knife or any sharp object Abrasion-wound to outer layer of skin First aid- immediate care to an injury Rabies- disease of nervous system that could cause madness or death 1st degree burn- burn of first layer of skin 2nd degree burn- blisters and superficial destruction of dermis with edema layer of skin Frostbite ice crystals form between cells, skin looses feeling Skin avulsion skin separates from body Puncture- object piercing skin Poison- substance that causes illness or death in the body Sprain- stretching or tearing of a ligament Fainting- loss of consciousness Gangrene- death of skin caused by frostbige

Chain of infection 1.Infectious agent- the microorganisms are harmless when they multiply 2.Reservoir- reservoir = humans, insects. and food pathogens stay in the reservoir until they can escape 3. Portal of exit. Escape route's: skin, blood, and mucus membrane 4. Means of transmission Can spread by direct contact or airborne Prevention: washing your hands is the best for prevention 5. Portal of entry Pathogens need a entry for transmission Routes of energy: resp. tract 6. Sustainable host One who is capable of being infected Microorganisms must be present in large amount
