2. Access Hatches
Underground structures in conveyance system built with access hatches
Subject to vehicle traffic
Over time, hatches and supporting concrete structure deteriorate and could fail
Failed structure is safety hazard to pedestrian and vehicular traffic

3. Project Purpose
Restore integrity of 7 structures where there is significant deterioration

Alley between N. Plankinton and Milwaukee River
W. Michigan St., 120’ east of N. Plankinton
W. Michigan St., 160’ east of N. Plankinton
W. Michigan St., 200’ east of N. Plankinton
E. Michigan St., west of N. Water St.

6. Project Scope Remove concrete from top of structure
Reconstruct top of structure
Install new precast concrete cover
Restore pavement around structure
