Did you know that the beginning of the school day is packed full of learning opportunities? Arriving on time will help your child have a more productive day. Type Here Type Here Young children thrive on routines. One of the most important routines at school is arrival time. This time is designed to help children transition naturally into the classroom and start the day off on a positive note. Students who enter the classroom after the day has started can cause disruption to the daily routine. These disruptions can take away from valuable learning time. Here are some of the learning activities we do in the classroom each morning: Greeting – saying good morning to our friends and teacher Choice – selecting an activity Attendance – counting the number of friends present and absent Song – signals the school day is beginning Circle Time – includes story time and reviewing the schedule for the day Type Here Type Here Here’s a quick checklist you can use to help the morning routine at home go more smoothly. The night before: Have children’s clothes ready for the next day Check backpacks for important information Place backpacks by the door Pack lunches Set your alarm If your child struggles with getting dressed for school, try these tips. Make putting on clothes a game: “Can you put your socks and shoes on before the timer goes off?” Offer choices: “Would you rather wear the red shirt or the green shirt?” ©2018
