Why make the documentary about mental health?
I believe that the idea of making the documentary about mental health would be good as I think that this isn’t a topic that is talked about alot even though it is something that should be spoken about more as it’s the reason many people die each year. It could be educational for those that have a friend or a family member that is suffering from depression, as it would suggest ways to help them and understand them more. Also, it would be beneficial for someone who is going through depression to see something like this so, that they know that they aren’t alone. Shocking facts about mental health and it’s outcomes: People with a diagnosed mental health condition are shown to be at a much higher risk of attempting and completing suicide Nearly 800,000 people die by suicide in the world each year, which is roughly one death every 40 seconds Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in the world for those aged years Suicides are 3x more likely among LGBTQ youth than other young people due to family rejection or lack of self acceptance Although it does not directly cause depression, anxiety and others, lack of sleep can have a serious impact on all of these. If there is a way to possibly lower these statistics, it’s to make everyone more aware of it, so that people can help one another or know that they aren’t alone and there’s always hope. This is why i believe that this will be a good idea for a documentary as it will be beneficial for many people.

Reasons against making the documentary about mental health?
The topic of mental health is used quite frequently. Although it is very powerful, it is a common thing to talk about, and not very unique and different. It is also a very depressing topic to talk about and people who actually have some sort of mental health issue might not feel comfortable with this very topic, even if it is for a good cause and to help them.In addition, this is a very open topic. Too open. Meaning that there might be too much information and research that it might overwhelm the audience. Not to mention this will be a common option throughout other groups.

Unique selling point What stands out from our video is that we not only talk about the symptoms and negative parts of Depression, but also how to deal with it and deal with people with it using studies made by professional psychologists, therapists or counselors. Another example of how to improve mental health, we’ve interviewed fans from the Harry Potter franchise and they told us the positive effect the saga had in their mental health and their overall tolerance. Not only we would talk about grief and how to deal with it, we would also interview someone who dedicates their lives to helping people with mental health, for example, interviewing CWC’s therapist or interview Megan Devine, a psychoanalyst who has dedicated her work to help people grieving with her platform Refuge In Grief (
