Strategies and Tactics
Strategies are the plans we prepare in advance of a competition, which we hope will place an individual or team in a winning position. Tactics are how we put these strategies into action.

Athletes in the associative phase of learning will not be able to cope with strategies, but the athlete in the autonomous phase should be able to apply strategies and tactics.

Strategy A strategy is a plan of action made before a game is played. You need to employ strategy to be successful. In football, the formation is a strategy.

Tactics A tactic is how we put these strategies into action, which considers your own or your opponents’ strengths and weaknesses.

To develop strategies and tactics we need to know:

Badminton is a very tactical and strategic game
Badminton is a very tactical and strategic game. Basically you need to keep returning the shuttle for longer than the opponent whilst trying to outwit them, and move them around the court using a variety of shots, with disguise if possible. Being a quick thinker is important to make decisions about what shot to play, in the limited time players have to return the shuttle effectively.
