Volunteering with havens hospices Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Havens Hospices. Our volunteers provide invaluable support and are 'Making every day count' for our patients, children and families who are cared for by the hospices. The extraordinary work of our dedicated volunteers has earned us the highest award in voluntary services, the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. This award is the highest accolade for volunteering work in the UK. We have around 1000 volunteers who donate 192,000 hours each year. They all bring a huge benefit to Havens Hospices not least by saving the charity £2.7 million a year. Volunteers play a very important supporting role at Havens Hospices and are involved in every area of the charity from ironing, administration, kitchen roles to grass cutting to counselling. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and have a wide range of backgrounds, a broad range of skills, experience and knowledge. We can usually match an individual and their skills to a volunteer role. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, use your skills and knowledge, gain confidence or to gain some experience. Volunteering benefits everyone; our volunteers, our charity, our families and patients as well as the wider community and environment. We have a range of volunteer roles and these are defined as Hospice based (includes volunteering within our care areas and offices) Charity Shops, Fundraising, Young Ambassadors and Occasional Volunteers, like you.
