My name is Amy Martin and I am the Founders Fund Specialist at PIHQ.
Thank you for attending this PIFF Workshop. I welcome all members, donors, and PIFF Representatives! I hope you find this workshop informative and helpful for planning the upcoming Pilot year.
Please jot down questions throughout the presentation, so that I may address them during the “Questions” portion at the end.

4. Pilot International Terms Defined
Pilot Year
July 1st-June 30th
250 Club/Individual
$250 contributions given to PI for Goals for Grants by clubs and members
250 Districts
When Districts reach their 250 Goal for the year they become 250 Districts
How are 250 Districts calculated?
10 Clubs X $250= 2,500-Therefore a District’s goal is $2,500 if there are 10 clubs in their District
Pacesetters
Annual donations given by clubs for active members
How are club Pacesetter donations calculated?
active members X $10= $100

5. 250/Pacesetter Contribution Deadlines/Recognition
Individuals and clubs who submit their $250/Pacesetter donations by February 1st receive a certificate of recognition at their District Convention
Districts who reach their $250 Goal are also recognized at their District Convention
Clubs or individuals who submit their $250/Pacesetter donations following the
February 1st deadline are not recognized at District Convention, but receive a
ribbon at International Convention.
NOTE: Individuals who give $1000 or more for the year by June 1 qualify for President’s Circle and will be recognized at International Convention

9. PIFF Designated Funds BrainMinders
Curriculum designed by Pilots that teaches 4-9 year olds, and older adults, about brain health and safety. Donations support BrainMinder materials and the implementation of BrainMinder programs in schools and communities.

Funds support long term sustainability of Pilot International
Heritage Garden
Supports the upkeep and maintenance of our Heritage Garden located at Headquarters
100th Anniversary Fund
For the celebration of our 100 Year Anniversary in 2021

Memorial/Honorarium
Donations to honor or memorialize a fellow Pilot, friend, or family member. If you would like us to send a card for a donation over $25, please make sure to complete the name and address portion.
Use of Memo Line-Check Donations/ Designate all funds online
When submitting checks for donations, dues, etc. always include the designated fund on the memo line (Discuss District Convention Donations).
ALL DONATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH THE DONATION FORM!

Emerald Club: $5,000- 9,999
Honor Wall: $10,000-19,000
Legacy Wall: $ 20,000-29,999
Founders Circle: $30,000-49,999
Dream Builders: $50,000-74,999
Vision Seekers: $75,000-99,999
Golden Legacy: $100,000 or more
Giving Levels recognize the generosity of our membership, clubs, and Districts!

12. PIFF Scholarships
Scholarship applications for the upcoming year available online
Scholarships funded by Goals for Grants and Scholarship Funds
Scholarship Deadline: must be postmarked by March 15
Scholarship applicants are no longer required to submit their application through a Pilot Club. All scholarship applications are submitted directly to Pilot International Headquarters
Scholarship applications submitted to HQ by the deadline will be sent to the Scholarship Committee to review. They rate each applicant based on a rubric and score sheet.
Scholarships are given to applicants interested in pursuing careers in one of the areas Pilot focuses on: Transforming communities through education and service in the areas of youth leadership and development, brain safety and fitness, or caring for families in need.

Provides assistance to undergraduate students preparing for a career that advances
Pilot’s mission.
Becky Burrows
Provides assistance to students re-entering the job market for “second careers” or seeking to improve their professional skills by continuing their education. Available to undergraduate and graduate level students.
Marie Newton Sepia Memorial Scholarship
Provides financial aid to qualified graduate or doctorate students preparing for or currently in careers that advance Pilot’s mission.

14. Ruby Newhall Memorial Scholarship Bob King Memorial Scholarship
PIFF Scholarships
Ruby Newhall Memorial Scholarship
Provides financial aid to students from a foreign country and pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in the United States or Canada. The field of study must be of a nature that it improves the quality of life for the community in their home country-INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY.
Bob King Memorial Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors and/or undergraduate students preparing for a career that advances Pilot’s mission.
Anchor Achievement Scholarship
Provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who have actively participated in volunteer service through our Anchor Clubs and shown outstanding leadership ability - ANCHORS ONLY.

15. KC International Scholarship

KC Anchor Scholarship
Funded through the generosity of a private donor (not PIFF), provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who have actively participated in volunteer service through an Anchor Club and shown outstanding leadership capability – ANCHORS ONLY.
KC International Scholarship
Funded through the generosity of a private donor (not PIFF), provides financial assistance to INTERNATIONAL high school or undergraduate students pursuing careers that further the mission of PI. Two individual scholarships awarded each year.
Project Lifesaver Scholarship NOT A PIFF Scholarship! This award is provided to graduating seniors by the Project Lifesaver Organization. Pilot International administers this but we do not fund it.

16. PIFF Matching Grants
Matching Grant application for the Year is now available online
Helps clubs or districts to fund small projects in their communities
Funded by Goal for Grants and Scholarships fund
Deadline October 15th

17. Emergency Response Program Grant
Emergency Response Grant application for the upcoming year is now available online
Clubs/Districts may apply to establish emergency response services to help people with disabilities in their communities
Funded by Goal for Grants and Scholarships fund
Deadline October 15th

18. Examples of Grant Projects
The Pilot Club of Houston Community used their Matching Grant to construct a pavilion, purchase 3 picnic tables, and demonstration trikes and helmets.
These will be used in classes for children to teach the proper use of helmets and tricycle safety procedures to prevent head injuries.

19. Example Grant Projects
The Green Country Pilot Club used their grant to bring the MobileSmiles Oklahoma van, who provided dental health screenings, X-rays and dental services to their community for three days.
The Green Country Club is committed to assisting people in need of dental services since losing one of their members to a dental infection that spread to the brain.

20. Example Grant Projects
The Pilot Club of Patchogue purchased MP3 players with about 100 personalized songs for each resident of McPeak’s Assisted Living facility in Patchogue.
The goal is to use the players to help improve residents’ brain function.

21. Non-PIFF Related Pick Me Up
Pick Me Up (NOT A GRANT)
Funded through private donors
Maximum of $250 each
1 per club per Pilot year
This is an electronic, writeable document. Funds Allocated-Not PIFF Related-Lia Smith
Quarterly opportunity, clubs must apply with a proposal and a budget

22. PIFF Responsibilities
Encourage club members to participate in PIFF initiatives-250/Pacesetter, Grants, Scholarships, Convention fundraisers
PIFF Representative to sign off on ALL Matching Grants
Be a resource and guide for club members
Help club membership set and achieve yearly goals
Participate and coordinate outreach opportunities for their club
Advocate for membership through regular communication with PIHQ
Plan and implement club fundraisers-discuss ideas
Ensure membership is aware that their generosity sustains Pilot International
