Specimen of iodine starch staining. Injection of 250 mu BoNT/B caused an anhidrotic skin of 41.6 cm2 after 3 wk, 29.5 cm2 after 3 mo. and 15.8 cm2 after 6 mo. Accordingly, area of anhidrotic skin after 62.5 mu BoNT/B was 27 cm2 after 3 wk, 9.5 cm2 after 3 mo, and no longer present after 6 mo. Note different scales in right lower corner of each photo representing 1 cm.

The area of anhidrotic skin after 3 wk, 3 mo, and 6 mo was correlated to the doses BoNT/B (p<0.001, each time point). At 3 wk (r=0.97) and 3 mo (r=0.98), regression lines had a steeper increase with lower (2–65 mu, circles) than with higher doses (125–1000 mu, squares) of BoNT/B. After 6 mo, anhidrosis was present with higher doses (125–100 mu, squares) only. Then, however, there was obviously no longer a significant dose dependency of anhidrosis.

4. Figure 3
There was a concentration-dependent suppression of QSART by BoNT/B. The figure shows that there was a nonlinear negative correlation between suppression of QSART (in percent of preinjection baseline) after 3 wk (r=– 0.79; p<0.001) and 3 mo (r=-0.60; p<0.001). At 3 mo, there was a great variability. No further correlation was found after 6 mo (data not shown).
