Lesson 8 and 9 Recognizing My Strengths And the Strengths of Others

What do you think each of the three words (eyes, ears, heart) mean when related to good listening? Review and provide examples of each. Now, I’d like you to use this special kind of listening to share your goal and plan for Looking Good and Feeling Good with a partner. You will have 30 seconds to share your plan. Next, ask for a few volunteers to share their goal and plan with the whole class and model Listening with Eyes, Ears and Heart. Collect the Looking Good Feeling Good sheets and save for the next lesson.

Build UP UP Each student will have a paper taped on their back and will have their heads down on their desk with eyes closed. Teachers will tap you on the shoulder to walk around the room and write one ice thing on 3 or 4 student’s back about them. Teachers can add positive things too. After everyone has a turn, students can lift their heads up and read through the comments that were written on their backs.

Pair and Share Find someone in the class that you feel comfortable with and practice saying positive things about yourself. Remember to include character traits as well as your abilities and attributes. Rehearse this until you feel comfortable and ready to make your video.

Show Time: Create a CLC Video
Create a video with each student sharing one thing they love about theirself! Really ham it up!!! Clap, dance, point, whatever to make it fun.
