1 YOUR Group

2 2 year’s funding received from Challenge Fund
YOUR Group 2 year’s funding received from Challenge Fund New early support that is tailored to change patterns in young people’s drug and alcohol use Build evidence base of ‘what works’ locally to increase young people’s resilience Co-ordinated multi-agency response Targeted approach – GIRFEC Public health approach Only half of applicants received funding. We are one of 3 project with large scale funding (over £35k) System change Targeted approach to engage vulnerable YP at risk, and who are known to services through the GIRFEC process Current provision: (GIRFEC SU thematic group, Pan-Grampian working group to discuss substance use in schools) Disjointed Lack of strategic direction and policy implementation Lack of specialist drug and alcohol services for YP regarding their own problematic substance use Lack of consistency in the levels of support and services available across Aberdeenshire Staff do not feel they have the relevant skills, knowledge and confidence to work with YP regarding their own substance use Many YP are not getting appropriate support to enable them to make positive choices about their health, wellbeing and their future Aims of the project: Create a more joined up approach between relevant stakeholders, including families, communities and key delivery agencies to improve the quality of life of families and communities by: sharing resources and knowledge avoiding duplication investigate alternative/sustainable funding processes – SDS, community funding 2
