A RESOURCE GUIDE

4 Library Log In Screen Click Login Quit
Then enter Username & Password according to these instructions Quit

7 You can conduct a simple search by typing in your search term here
Physical Resources This is the library Home Page You can conduct a simple search by typing in your search term here Or you can conduct an advanced search by clicking the Advanced search button Quit

Physical Resources This is the Advanced Search Screen Type in your search term here You can narrow your search to just your campus by clicking here, Or leave it unclicked to check in all campuses. Quit

Click on one of the results to view it Narrow your search Quit

10 Physical Resources To locate the item, check the Location Information first The location column indicates which campus the item is located in Call Number shows you where you can locate the item in the library Advises if item is available Quit

11 Physical Resources If the item you need is located in another campus, you can have it sent to you Just click the PLACE HOLD button Quit

12 A pop up box will appear with you name in it
Physical Resources A pop up box will appear with you name in it Click the drop down menu in the Pick Up Location box and select your campus Then click Reserve. Your item will be sent to your campus within 2-3 days. Quit That’s it!!!

Click into EBSCOHost Quit

15 Electronic Resources By checking Select/Deselect All, you can conduct a Federated Search by searching multiple databases Quit

16 Now all databases are checked. Click on Continue

Type in a search term. Let’s search for Study Skills AND college Make sure to always click Full Text and Peer Reviewed Next, Click Search Next, Click Search Quit

24 Electronic Resources A Federated search can be done searching all the databases at once. Click on ADVANCED SEARCH Quit

Click on Search Options This is the LIRN search page Click on 100 results per Source Sort by date, and ALWAYS click on Full Text and Peer Review Quit

Electronic Resources Once it is complete, the results list will display how many articles are available in each individual database. If you click on Full-Text PDF… Quit

36 Glossary Cite - A bibliographic citation is a reference to a book, article, web page, or other published item. Citations should supply sufficient detail to identify the item uniquely Federated Searching - an information retrieval technology that allows the simultaneous search of multiple searchable resources. A user makes a single query request which is distributed to the search engines participating in the federation. The federated search then aggregates the results that are received from the search engines for presentation to the user. HTML - HyperText Markup Language is the main markup language for webpages. HTML elements are the basic building-blocks of webpages Peer review - is a process of self-regulation by a profession or a process of evaluation involving qualified individuals within the relevant field.
