4. School District Policy in order to receive a parking sticker
Must attend a driver safety meeting with parent/ guardian
Must have a Class D License
Must be in good academic standing
No owed textbooks
CSIP points up to date
Driving to school is a privilege and privileges can be revoked. (revoked 8 stickers this school year to date)
Cuts, insubordination, inappropriate behavior, attendance, and suspensions will result in a loss of parking privileges.
Safe driving on campus; obey basic traffic rules

5. What do I need to show when receiving a sticker?
Class D Driver’s License, Carbon copy of driver test, or cash register receipt from DMV
Car Insurance
Car Registration
District Vehicle Registration sheet completed with parent/ guardian signature
Location: Teacher web site on the new eSV pages (Teachers are listed alphabetically)

6. Where to park? Where NOT to park!
Two lots
E Wing lot (by gym area)
Upper Scholar lot (by tennis courts and fields)
Cannot park in teacher’s lots
Scholar lot and town line lot
Must park in lined spots
Handicapped parking can result in a $300+ ticket
Cannot park in diagonally lined spots or end caps of the rows – Tickets issued this year by Smithtown Safety
If there are no spots left on campus and you need to park in the community, please be respectful of the neighborhood and the community members’ property.

10. How to get a sticker?
Sticker Distribution day Monday August 26th at 11AM in the Upper Senior Scholar lot
Pull in by tennis courts, form two lines with your cars, by the cones
After other Driver Safety meetings – Tuesday August 27th or Monday November 4th
If not then, Every morning before school in the scholar Senior lot between 6:50AM-7:25AM
Never during the school day

11. Can I get additional stickers?
YES…
Very flexible with multiple stickers.
Driving another parent’s car
Got a new car (Lease ended)
Etc…

12. Wait, I will not get my Class D license until October…
It’s OK…
You can show the carbon copy from your driver’s road test
You can show the receipt that proves you have a Class D from DMV
But… If you show up on your birthday to park, it will not be a happy birthday for you…
Why??

13. Wilson Tech Driving
In order to park at Wilson Tech, you must, first, have a valid Commack Parking sticker
Have Wilson Tech form signed by Mrs. Nelson
Limited spots available when AM Tech students return to CHS, especially in spring…

14. Driving Safe… Tips Look next to you before you open your doors
Pull in correctly to a spot, practice makes perfect
In snow, clear off your windshield or defrost your windshield
Do not cut off cars while pulling in to the lot
Check your surroundings for joggers, cyclists and your peers walking in the lot
Watch for cars backing in to spots
No loud music

15. If an accident occurs… It happens and it’s OK, but…
You MUST alert me of this immediately in the upper lot or to the dean’s office before you leave school grounds.(We can solve so many problems early on if I know immediately)
If an accident occurs late in the day, you must find a security guard or administrator IMMEDIATELY on the day of the accident to report the situation.
DO NOT just walk away and pretend nothing happened – This includes if you hit a car and no one is in the other car.

Please sign up for Remind to receive information and reminders over the summer and throughout the school year.

I will be sending blast reminds in August as to what you need for a sticker and where to find it.
Messages throughout the school year may include when the lots are closed for certain functions etc.
