19 Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
Under the eNLC, nurses are able to provide care to patients in other eNLC states, without having to obtain additional licenses. AZ is a eNLC state. When applying for a nursing license you must declare a primary state of residence. This state license will either be good for just that state or it may be in a state that is part of the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact which will give you the ability to provide care in other eNLC states without having to obtain another RN license. The new enhanced licensure compact, or eNLC, is the licensure model that allows registered nurses (RNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) to have one multistate license, with the privilege to practice in the home state and in other eNLC states physically, electronically, and/or telephonically. It replaces the original nurse licensure compact (NLC) and adds extra safeguards that maintain public protection at the state level. There are 11 uniform requirements for a multistate license. An applicant for licensure in a state that is part of the eNLC will need to meet the following uniform licensure requirements: 1. Meets the home state’s qualifications for licensure or renewal of licensure, as well as, all other applicable state laws; 2. Has graduated or is eligible to graduate from a licensing board-approved RN or LPN/VN prelicensure education program; or has graduated from a foreign RN or LPN/VN prelicensure education program that (a) has been approved by the authorized accrediting body in the applicable country and (b) has been verified by an independent credentials review agency to be comparable to a licensing boardapproved prelicensure education program; 3. Has, if a graduate of a foreign prelicensure education program not taught in English or if English is not the individual’s native language, successfully passed an English proficiency examination that includes the components of reading, speaking, writing and listening; 4. Has successfully passed an NCLEX-RN® or NCLEX-PN® Examination or recognized predecessor, as applicable; 5. Is eligible for or holds an active, unencumbered license; 6. Has submitted, in connection with an application for initial licensure or licensure by endorsement, fingerprints or other biometric data for the purpose of obtaining criminal history record information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the agency responsible for retaining that state’s criminal records; 7. Has not been convicted or found guilty, or has entered into an agreed disposition, of a felony offense under applicable state or federal criminal law; 8. Has not been convicted or found guilty, or has entered into an agreed disposition, of a misdemeanor offense related to the practice of nursing as determined on a case-by-case basis; 9. Is not currently enrolled in an alternative program; 10. Is subject to self-disclosure requirements regarding current participation in an alternative program; and 11. Has a valid United States Social Security number.

20 On January 19, 2018, the new and improved Enhanced Nursing Licensure Compact (eNLC) was implemented.
Currently, (May 2018) 24 of the original NLC states have enacted the eNLC or have pending legislation. Rhode Island, have not developed legislation for the transition and will remain a part of the original NLC and a nurse with this license will only be able to practice in that state. Conversely, nurses in the eNLC will no longer be able to practice in RI. They must obtain single state licenses in order to maintain practice privileges.

21 Benefits of eNLC Multistate License
Opportunity to practice in all eNLC states Able to practice telenursing in all eNCL states Able to teach via distance education in all eNLC states Allows nurses to easily provide nursing services during disasters involving other eNCL states Several benefits for a multistate license and we are seeing the trend to move this direction through address key components that have stopped some states from joining. Benefits include: Opportunity to practice in all eNLC states Able to practice telenursing in all eNCL states Able to teach via distance education in all eNLC states Allows nurses to easily provide nursing services during disasters involving other eNCL states

22 Requirements for requesting an initial RN license in a compact state is the same as in states not in the compact, except… You need to declare a primary state of residence as defined by where you: have a driver’s license are registered to vote pay taxes Need primary state of residence for a compact state.

23 Use the tree to help clarify what kind of license you need.

31 NCLEX Results….wait for it
Examination results are sent to the BON. Only the BON can release the results and the results will be sent to the candidate within 6 weeks. BUT that seems like an eternity….so… Within 2 business days, many states (including Arizona) offer unofficial “quick results” for $7.95 through the quick results service available on the NCLEX Candidate website at: Examination results are sent to the BON. 32 Yikes…what if I didn’t pass
Breathe! Relax. The statistics are in your favor that you will pass. And you can work now on learning even better stress management techniques such as EFT tapping, biofeedback techniques, and self-hypnosis to help you succeed the first time. In addition to breathing, you can administer CPR! But if the stars just weren’t aligned and you did not pass this time, you can prepare to take it again.

33 Candidate Performance Report (CPR)
CPR is an individualized 2-page document providing information regarding your performance within the 8 test content areas. You can use this to guide your review. NCSBN requires a retake exam no earlier than 45 days, and ability to retake up to 8 times a year. Check with BON to determine how many retakes are possible and within what period of time.
