Graphic representation of a dynamic airway pressure scalar during volume control ventilation with a constant inspiratory flow. Graphic representation of a dynamic airway pressure scalar during volume control ventilation with a constant inspiratory flow. The stress index (SI)33 is derived from changes in the pressure slope throughout inspiration (following the initial pressure step primarily associated with flow resistance). Similar to the CSLICE methodology, changes in the airway pressure at a constant rate of chest distention signify increasing, constant, or decreasing chest compliance.
