19 CAPS, integration & implementation
CAPS: Life Skills: Term 2, Grade 2, Page 43 The story can be read at the end of the day just for fun. It can be read in any grade because the words that occur in the story are not difficult and the story will be flexible for multiple grades to understand (also depending on the hyperlinks used in the story). The questions that have to be answered is intended for Life Skills, Grade 2, Term 2 and is under the topic: Animals and creatures that live in water > saltwater animals Bullying is also a theme in the story and can form part of the hidden curriculum.

20 CAPS, integration & implementation CONTINUE
The story “Unlikely Friends” can be integrated in a lot of different ways: Language can be implemented in the story; the story can be used to teach new words, the pronunciation of words and as well as sentence structures. Writing can also be implemented with the story; learners can do activities where they can write another scenario in the stories that is similar, or they can use the pictures, but just change the story. Reading can be implemented; learners can do shared reading activities and help each other with words that are difficult. You can implement Role-playing into the story; learners can act out scenarios that relate to the story and use props to do the role playing. Arts and crafts can be used; learners can make something creative with a variety of materials that are linked to the theme, sea animals.
